What are Microgreens?
Microgreens are young seedlings of edible vegetables and herbs. They are not sprouts. Sprouts germinate in water, and harvested, whereas microgreens grow in soil and light, they can be harvested and eaten a week to 10 days after the cotyledon leaves have developed.and just as the true leaf appears. They are nutritional powerhouses, are a great source of vitamin A, E, C and K, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, selenium and zinc. Research has indicated that microgreens contain up to 40% more phytochemicals (beneficial nutrients and components) than their full-grown counterparts. Microgreens can lower blood pressure, help lower cholesterol, they have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-hyperglycemia properties, they are high in fiber which aids in gut health, these are just a few benefits of microgreens.
You can use them in a variety of ways. Such as salad, sandwiches, garnishes, tea, juicing, and so much more. They add nutritional content, boost color, enhance flavor, and add texture to any dish
